Student organizations are always hosting great events on campus. Once such event coming up in November is V-Day SDSU’s semi-annual “Read My Lips” Open Mic Night. V-Day is the organization that produces The Vagina Monologues every year on campus in an effort to raise awareness and funds to stop violence against women and girls. Over the past two years, V-Day has raised a total of $40,000 that was donated to local organizations, as well as the global V-Day campaign. One way in which they do this is through their “Read My Lips” event, which will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 7:30pm in the Don Powell Theatre. This open mic night will include a variety of performances, from spoken word, to comedians, to musicians. The only requirement is that the performances relate in some way to the V-Day theme of ending violence against women. Tickets to the event will be $5 and can be bought at V-Day tables throughout the weeks of November 7th–10th and 14th–16th between 10am-3pm on Campanile Walkway, as well as at the door the night of the event. Last year, this event sold out just before the event started, so be sure to get your tickets in advance! Those interested in performing, who have questions about the event, or want to get involved in the organization can contact VDaySDSU@gmail.com, and are encouraged to add their facebook page at www.facebook.com/VDaySDSU. Come get involved in V-Day! It is a fun and philanthropic organization filled with passionate males and females. Look out for big things from this group!
