Topic: Our Broken Immigration Law System: Is Immigration Reform the Answer?

Lilia Velasquez is an internationally recognized advocate in immigration law and an Immigration Law professor at California Western School of Law. Most recently, Lilia Velasquez successfully represented victims of trafficking for prostitution and obtained legal status for them in the U.S. Professor Velasquez obtained her J.D. degree from California Western School of Law, her LL.M. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and her B.S. degree from San Diego State University. Professor Velasquez co-directs, develops and leads Proyecto ACCESO. She conducts workshops in Oral Advocacy, Media Advocacy and Cross-Cultural Negotiation with Proyecto ACCESO. She consults for women’s advocacy groups, the Mexican government, the U.S. State Department and various international agencies.
The International Student Center and the Aztec Parents Fund presents the International Speaker Forum. Renowned speakers will be invited to present on global matters and current issues. The forum aims to enhance education outside the classroom and advance global learning and development through discussion and dialogue.
