SDSUnited just completed their second annual clothing drive. This event turned out to be a great success. From January 23rd until February 15th, donation bins were placed all over campus with Student Life and Leadership as the primary donation center. Bins were also located widely throughout campus at places such as the Cross Cultural Center, AS Executive Offices, Alpha Phi, Phi Kappa Psi, Alpha Chi Omega, The ARC, and EBA rooms 259 and 403. The clothing drive was targeted for Father Joe’s Villages, an organization focused on serving the community, more specifically the homeless of the area. The items that were donated range from jackets to coats and sweatshirts to plants and shirts. This program involved both SDSUnited as well as SDSU Children and Family Development Organization. This year’s results were phenomenal! Clothing Drive Project Manager Amber Keene reported back, “The clothing drive went great, it exceeded everyone’s expectations”. Their end result was equivalent to five times more clothes than they collected last year. With all SDSUnited members being very thrilled with this year’s results, they are upping their expectations for next year’s drive as their goal for the future drive. With that being said, they are going to go above and beyond and further immerse themselves with helping Father Joe’s Villages organization. One goal in mind is to be directly involved with the distribution process of the items to those in need. Way to go SDSUnited and congratulations on the success of your drive! Keep up the great work!
