If you’re looking for some excellent community service, well here it is. The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life and San Diego State University have partnered up to host the “Aztecs Fight Back” relay for life cancer walk starting April 21 at 4pm and ending on April 22 and 4pm. This will be a 24-hour team fundraising event that benefits cancer patient services such as, Road to Recovery where volunteers provide transportation to and from chemo appointments, or Look Good Feel Better, a program for estheticians to help patients with their outward appearance to build self-esteem during treatments, and much more. At Relay, teams set up a campsite and participate in games, watch live entertainment, and host an on-site fundraiser around the track. One key part of Relay is that one member from your team must be on the track at all times—this represents the fact that cancer never sleeps. It’s a great bonding activity for an organization, and also supports anyone you know who has battled, or is currently in the fight against cancer.
To participate in “Aztecs Fight Back”, sign up on our website http://www.relayforlife.org/sdsuca and register a team. Each individual has a fundraising goal however there is nothing stopping you from setting your goal higher. If you register the online participant center has emails you can customize to send to family, friends and coworkers to invite them to join your team, start their own, or donate. We encourage each person to fundraise as much as possible leading up to the event! Team Captain meetings are held every Wednesday at 5pm in Communication 206 at SDSU.
