Pushing Forward After Spring Break
It’s that time again folks! We just had an amazing week long break from school. There’s only about a month and a half left of the semester. And it’s probably a safe bet that everyone’s feeling a little slumped when it comes to being motivated for finishing off the semester strong. Well, good thing Student Life and Leadership has got your back! We’ve got some tips and tricks to help you finish strong.
First and foremost, this is definitely that time of the semester where you’ve got to ‘check back in’. Take a look at your semester progress and figure out how much is left in each of your classes. If you’re feeling a little weary about your grades, get yourself to some professor’s officer hours immediately! Do a check in with your professor to track your progress and figure out where you stand at this point in the semester.
This next tip may sound a little harsh but it’s something you should consider. Looking at your progress, if you’re happy with where you stand in your classes, then by all means keep up that way of life you have going. You must be doing something write in terms of balancing different things and many other factors. But, if you aren’t happy with where you stand right now, it’s time to re-evaluate your situation. Look at your study habits, look at your time-management, your balancing or maybe even lack of balancing between social life, sleep and academics. Sometimes, that even means re-evaluating who your friends are. You may not realize it, but the people you interact with socially are some of your biggest influences and you may not see it clearly but sometimes they can bring you down the most.
Check in with your professors for your progress, re-evaluate your priorities and surroundings, and our last tip for you to finish your semester strong is to start taking care of yourself now! Take 20-30 minutes a day if your truly that busy, but at least that half hour to get some exercise in. Whether that means lunges or squats, pushups and situps before bed or in the morning when you wake up, or a run around your block or at the gym, fit some time into your schedule everyday to take care of yourself. Exercising gets your mind thinking fresh, energizing so you don’t drink caffeine and puts you in a better mood as well. Exercise and with that, drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. These things sound pretty cliché but the reality of it is, that when you put these three tips into play, your going to benefit greatly and finish out this semester without being drained! So what are you waiting for?
Let’s push these last few weeks out as minimally stressed and as motivated as possible!
