As the old saying goes, “if you have the money you don’t have the time, and if you have time you don’t have the money”… This is something college students can truly empathize with. Most college students, specifically at SDSU work a job along with going to school full time, and balancing something else in their life (whether that be an internship, or an organization, etc.), so it is important to recognize how to save the little money you are earning.
There’s a short mathematical formula out there that is an easy money management tool to keep in mind when trying to save money. Let’s say you are receiving a $200 paycheck, take 50% of that paycheck and put it your savings account for a rainy day. Then take 30% to pay your bills, whatever that consists of. After that take 20% for yourself, go to a movie, go shopping, and enjoy your hard earned money. This is a lot easier said than done, however it truly works, and as hard as it seems to save money when you’re eating Top Ramen and Trujillos everyday, you’ll appreciate it when your car breaks down, or the new iPad comes out! Enjoy these words of wisdom, test them out and see how it goes!
