Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes

As the month of September comes to an end, a new month filled with opportunities to give back to the community begins. There are many ways to volunteer or to help out within one’s community. There is one organization in particular that I want to put the spot light on. Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing funds to research cures for all types of diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that affects over twenty-six million Americans, and the number is only increasing.

My organization (Alpha Psi Rho) and I, are supporting our main philanthropy by not only walking and volunteering at the diabetes walk, which will take place on Sunday, October 28th, but we are also aiming to raise over two-thousand dollars for such a great cause. Some ways you as students can help: by signing up for the event and participating in either the walk itself, volunteering time to help set up, pass out waters etc… Or by donating money as well.

If you would like to help my organization reach its fundraising goal for Diabetes, you can copy and paste this link: to your browser. You can also donate money on behalf of any of our member’s by simply clicking on their name. You could also donate money on your own behalf by scrolling down on the page, and clicking on the option that allows you to donate money without being affiliated to any team.

This is such an important cause to get involved with due to the fact that there are so many Americans that are affected by Diabetes, either because they have it or know someone who does. So step out and help contribute to this amazing cause, and make a difference in someone’s life!
