Their mission is to “inspire victims and survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault by breaking the silence and empowering these individuals to embark into new beginnings for a healthy self-sufficient future.”

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women – more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. Every 9 seconds, a woman in the US is assaulted or beaten; every day in the US more than 3 women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends. The statistics are true, and the facts aren’t pretty; clearly something has to be done about these issues. Kristen saw that need and acted upon the cause.

In 2013, Break the Silence hopes to launch educational programs that help fulfill their organizations mission. In order to provide the best resources and facilities, Break the Silence is hosting an event to fundraise and raise awareness for domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault. With an elaborate dinner, live entertainment, and keynote speakers, the event promises to be both an enjoyable and educational experience.
