Salutations peers, according to an online article, 70 percent of adults ranging between the ages of 18-34, say they support gay marriage/union, compared to the 39 percent of adults ages 55 and up (Live Sciences, 2013). With that being said, I would like to shine the spotlight on an event that will occur on Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at Scripps cottage. The name of the event is “Love Campaign” hosted by the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Student Union. The event will run from 12-1 pm, the purpose of the event is to promote marriage equality in relevance to Valentine’s Day. There will be several speakers talking about different topics that concern same sex marriage. There will be handouts passed out that contain information and facts about the LGBTQ community. Also, at 11 am there will be a table in front of the Hepner Hall flagpole where students will be able to write a valentine for their significant other. The reason why the younger generation is targeted as the main audience for issues such as these is that the younger generations are much more open minded to the idea of same sex marriage, and the issues concerning the LGBTQ community; as the statistic I spoke about earlier showed. If this interests you, I definitely suggest you to come out and check this event out, you have nothing to lose, and so much to gain.
