Rise Aztecs! Who is getting excited for this year’s Homecoming festivities? This year, Homecoming 2013: Rise of the Aztecs, is set to be San Diego State’s biggest Homecoming yet!
The week starts at 10 am on Sunday, October 20 with the “Homecoming Kick Off” located at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center Sunset Lawn. Here, students have the opportunity to network during brunch, decorate posters and officially begin the week’s competition.
The Homecoming competition then continues on Monday, October 21st, with the “Rise of the Aztecs: Talent Show”. Starting at 7pm, the talent show is an awesome way to meet fellow Aztecs and discover some hidden talents within our community. If performing in front of your peers isn’t your thing, come out to the Ultimate Aztec Competition on the ENS 700 field to compete in an inflatable obstacle course or field day challenges. As the week continues, the opportunities to get involved get even better! On Wednesday, October 23rd, Aztecs Rock Hunger will be sponsoring a canned food drive as well as a blood drive for fellow Aztecs to give back to the less fortunate.
If you’re looking for a little excitement on Thursday, October 24th, the Associated Students Aztec Student Union Board is sponsoring an Aztec Scavenger Hunt. All the teams competing will be running around campus with four different scavenger hunts. The official 2013 Homecoming pep rally will be held on Friday, October 25th in front of Viejas Arena. Here, Aztecs can cheer on the football team as they board the bus for the night and wait for the big game on Saturday.
The event of the week is definitely the Homecoming Football game against the Fresno State Bulldogs (Kickoff TBA). Hopefully old and new Aztecs can make it out to the festivities and join in the fun! We are, after all, Aztecs for Life!
