Hello Aztecs!

SDSU provides countless ways to stay in the loop about events happening around our campus or within the San Diego community. There is no better way to find out about these events than checking out this blog! During the week October 21 – 27, there are tons of events happening for students.

First and foremost, one of the biggest events of the year for SDSU is happening this week! Yes, you probably guessed right, it’s HOMECOMING! Get involved with your student organization, or just come out to attend the events the Associated Students Aztec Pride Committee has worked on all summer! Whether it’s attending the Talent Show on Monday night, Friday night’s Pep Rally, participating in Tuesday’s Obstacle Course, or attending Saturday’s football game, be sure to show your school pride. To get more information about homecoming, be sure to check out homecoming.sdsu.edu/ today!

Calling all ladies! Are you tired of dealing with people who make cat calls? Grab your heels, put your wigs on, and come out and celebrate ALL THINGS WOMAN with A … My Name is Alice, conceived by Joan Micklen Silver and Julianne Boyd. This musical, filled with sketches, monologues and clever musical numbers, offers a woman’s perspective on love, life, motherhood, and friendship! This must-see event is presented by the SDSU Experimental Theatre. Performances are this Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm in Arts & Letters 101. There is a great opportunity this week to have fun while giving back to the community! The BOO! Parade is a free, family-friendly parade with ghoulish floats, unique vintage cars, costumes characters, bands and more! This is San Diego’s only Halloween-themed parade. The parade is also a celebration of community spirit and cultural diversity! The parade route follows El Cajon Blvd. heading east, beginning at 59th Street and ending at Aragon Drive. The parade is Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 am – 1 pm. If you would like to volunteer your time to help with the parade, fill out a Volunteer Application at booparade.com or contact Tiana Caylor, Volunteer Coordinator, for more information at 619-582-1093 or assistantdirector@collegeareabid.com. The Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the War Memorial will honor the memories of our fallen Aztecs who paid the ultimate price sacrificing their lives during our nation’s military conflicts. The 17th annual ceremony will take place at the SDSU War Memorial on Aztec Green on Friday, Oct. 25, from 9:30 am – 11:00 am.

Wow, there are so many events going on throughout this week! Hopefully you will have the opportunity to attend at least one event and strengthen your Aztec Pride.
