Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/Chicana De Aztlan (MEChA)
MEChA will be hosting their 43rd High School Conference at San Diego State University on November 16. The event provides a great opportunity for all students to learn about the Chicano culture, as well as many other cultures on the SDSU campus. MEChA is a nationwide student organization with chapters on campuses across the country. With education and political involvement as their main avenues through which to enact change in society, MEChA ‘s goal is to encourage students to graduate from high school and pursue a college education. They also hope to evoke in students a desire to become politically conscious through involvement in the community, in addition to encouraging the development of a sense of pride in who they are and where they come from.
The high school conference is free to attend! For more information on the conference, or to register, you can visit the conference website at www.mechasdsuhs.webs.com!
