What’s up Aztecs!
Have you ever been so exhausted because you pulled an all-nighter for an exam or homework? If you answered yes, you have encountered one of the most difficult parts of going to school: stress. Stress is something that, while inevitable, can be mitigated through specific behaviors. Here are some insider tips on how to learn and control your stress when it gets to be a little too much.
First and foremost, don’t stress about being stressed! Try not to beat yourself up about it, rather admit that you’re stressed and deal with it! Try and rest – you need it! Most college students need a minimum of seven hours of sleep per night in order for their minds to refocus, recharge, and rebalance. If that rest time has to be gained through taking naps, then do so and wake up to hit the ground running!
Next stress busting tip is to have a healthy and balanced diet. According to educational writer, Kelci Lynn Lucier, while you may think your stress is psychological, you could also be feeling physical stress if you’re not fueling your body appropriately. Eating a healthy, balanced diet including fruits and veggies, whole grains and protein is important.
Sometimes we think that if we don’t have time to sleep or eat, then we definitely don’t have time to exercise! Don’t make that mistake! Exercising can be a great solution for clearing your mind and body from stress while getting fit!
Other keys to dealing with and preventing stress are to just to relax, be sociable, have some fun, and keep the proper perspective on life! Make sure to keep your “eye on the prize” and then head out and change the world!
When you do need some distance or a mini getaway or vacation, you have tons of options right outside your front door when attending school in San Diego. This city has some of the top points of interests on the west coast! Many SDSU students take trips to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park, amongst other options! If you’re more interested in seeing great exhibits and historic places, San Diego is also known for Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and much more!
When you need a break from studying, take a breather, explore San Diego and make the best of your time here!
