What’s Up Aztecs!
In this edition of This Week @ State, we will be covering the Grand Dedication Week to the new Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union building! Let’s take a quick look at the multitude of festivities that will be happening around our campus this week, as this week may very well contain one of the most historic events to do down in SDSU history!
Let’s start off with some Aztec sports! Our women’s basketball team will be hosting UNLV on Tuesday, March 4 at 6pm in Viejas Arena. The lady Aztecs will need all the support from their beloved Aztec fans as they try to pull off a great win! The next day, Wednesday, March 5, the men’s basketball team will be playing in Nevada at UNLV. Although they may be in a different state, you can watch them play on your local sports channel. Moreover, if you haven’t seen our Aztec baseball team, it’s a must! Aztec baseball will be hosting a 3 game series against Nevada starting on Friday night, March 7th at 6 pm. Grab some cracker jacks and a hot dog and enjoy the game. You can always check out more Aztec athletic events on the goaztecs.com website.
As mentioned earlier, this week officially marks the Grand Dedication Week opening to the new Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. Check out these awesome events:
- Live Fit @ The Union on Tuesday, March 4th – You can explore the new ARC Express in the Union. Your Aztec Recreation Center membership includes free bowling, SDSU’s largest yoga class, and free fitness classes.
- Go Green @ The Union on Wednesday, March 5th – Local organizations will be taking over the Courtyard with a fun and interactive eco-fair where you can learn how the sustainability movement began on our campus.
- Explore Arts & Tradition @ The Union on Thursday, March 7h – You can take part in an enriching celebration and exploration of the many arts and cultural offerings at SDSU.
- Aztecs Unite @ The Union on Saturday, March 8th – Show your Aztec Pride before heading to Viejas Arena for the Men’s Basketball game by celebrating in traditions, old and new, with your SDSU community. Enjoy a DJ, photo booth, free food and giveaways, prizes, and more!
And lastly, it’s the granddaddy of them all! Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members, will all come together for the official ribbon cutting of the Conrad Prebys’s Aztec Student Union. This event celebrates Associated Students 80 years of contributions to the SDSU community. Following the Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, grab your Commemorative Issue of The Daily Aztec and start your trip around the Union as it becomes alive with an array of activities!
In all, it’s not just the many union festivities that are going on during that week, but also Greek events to cultural organization events, and academic events. Participated in these great events and become a part of making SDSU history!
